Kaitlyn Hammontree and Her Approach to Advanced Veterinary Care

A veterinarian wearing gloves uses an ultrasound device on the belly of a fluffy brown cat lying on its back during a medical examination.
A fluffy orange and white cat with green eyes is being gently held by a person wearing a light gray shirt, who is partially visible in the background.
A small white dog sits on an exam table while a veterinarian in a white coat gently examines it and another person pets the dog’s head. The dog looks happy and is panting with its mouth open.

Get to Know

Kaitlyn Hammontree, DVM

Dr. Hammontree knows that every pet is one-of-a-kind, and that the bond you share with them is irreplaceable. She treats each patient with care that honors their personality and needs, while leveraging her knowledge and technical skill to make complex procedures seamless and effective.

"I love the challenge of interesting cases, but what is most rewarding is being able to provide necessary care for patients that otherwise would not receive it. Working with owners who so desperately want to do the best for their animal companions is the reason I embarked on this journey.”

-Dr. Hammontree

Education & Background

L

Dr. Hammontree has a focused interest in small animal surgery and dentistry. She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and began her career in a busy mixed animal practice, building a strong foundation across a wide range of cases. She later joined the Holland Military Working Dog Hospital at Lackland Air Force Base—the only Role IV Veterinary Treatment Facility in the world—where she gained extensive experience in complex medical and surgical care for working dogs. During this time, she worked alongside board-certified specialists and continued to refine her surgical and dental skills.

In addition, Dr. Hammontree provided relief services to emergency veterinary hospitals throughout the San Antonio area, where she saw firsthand the challenges pet owners face when advanced care becomes necessary—particularly when cost limits available options. That experience helped shape her approach to care.

She now brings this perspective to Alliance Veterinary Procedure Center, providing advanced surgical and dental procedures with a focus on precision, efficiency, and collaboration with referring veterinarians—while working to make high-quality care more accessible for the pets and families she serves.

Philosophy & Approach

L

She believes veterinary care works best when it’s a true partnership with pet owners, colleagues, and referring veterinarians. Her dedication to learning and growth allows her to pair strong technical skills with sound clinical judgment, ensuring each patient receives care that is both advanced and thoughtfully tailored to their unique needs.

Outside the Office

L

When she’s not caring for your pets, Dr. Hammontree has an interest in her own working dog that she trains for IGP. A serial hobbyist, she enjoys reading, woodworking, gardening, and is currently training brazilian jiu-jitsu. Above all, she is devoted to her family and strives to give her daughter a well-rounded childhood full of memorable experiences.
